Empowering Tigray’s Smallholders: A4Store Project Hosts Landmark Research Workshop in Abiy-Adi

​The #A4Store Project led by Mekelle University is hosting a major research workshop bringing together farmers, researchers, practitioners and policymakers to unlock the potential of alluvial aquifers (sand rivers) for sustainable farming through multidisciplinary action research, capacity building and stakeholder engagement. 🌾💧

A4Store Pro Land Workshop Abiy Adi

This multi-country initiative (Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Niger and India) focuses on the effective and sustainable use of alluvial aquifers for improving the livelihoods and resilience of smallholder farmers. It also promotes high-impact solutions like solar-powered irrigation to strengthen climate resilience for smallholder farming families.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Deputy Head of Bureau of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ato Abera Kedenew, praised this unique research project that brings research institutions, development partners and farmers together for a common goal, and affirmed the Bureau’s full commitment to partnering with the project to transform Tigray's agricultural productivity.
