Mekelle University successfully hosted a highly impactful public lecture and official book handover event by its long-standing partner, Jan Nyssen. Prof. Nyssen presented an engaging lecture titled “The Hidden Infrastructure of Rural Tigray: Footpaths, Agriculture and Runoff,” which attracted strong participation from academics, researchers, and students, offering valuable insights into the role of rural footpaths in shaping landscapes, livelihoods, and agricultural systems in the highlands of Tigray. The event also included the handover of his book “A Chronicle of the Tigray Tragedy (2020–2024),” which was formally received by Laureate Professor Mitiku Haile and submitted to the University Library Director, Mr. Gebremedhin, marking an important moment of academic collaboration and institutional engagement. On behalf of the university, Dr. Tesfaalem Gebreyohannes, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH), expressed sincere appreciation to Prof. Nyssen for his lecture, book donation, continued scholarly engagement, and steadfast solidarity with Mekelle University.
