Mekelle University – Mekelle Institute of Technology (MU–MIT) Successfully Conducts OBE-Based External Curriculum Validation Workshop

Mekelle University – Mekelle Institute of Technology (MU–MIT) successfully conducted an Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-Based External Curriculum Validation Workshop for the following undergraduate programs:
Programs Validated:
1) BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
2) BSc in Biotechnology
3) BSc in Electrical Engineering, with the following specializations:
--- Industrial Control Engineering
--- Power Engineering
--- Electronics Engineering
Why the Curriculum Revision?
The curriculum revision was undertaken for the following reasons:
a) The existing curricula are overdue for revision.
b) They do not adequately reflect recent developments in higher education and technology.
c) They are, to some extent, lacking in current industry relevance.
d) In accordance with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education (MoE) directive, all academic programs are required to adopt an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum by 2019 E.C.
The workshop brought together external reviewers, industry representatives, employers, alumni, and academic experts to validate the revised curricula and ensure their quality, relevance, and alignment with national and international standards.
