Mekelle University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB)
Mekelle University (MU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), a premier intergovernmental organization dedicated to research, training, and technology transfer in genetic engineering and biotechnology. Headquartered in Trieste, Italy with additional components in New Delhi, India, and Cape Town, South Africa, ICGEB is internationally recognized for its excellence in scientific research and capacity building

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. Fana Hagos, President of Mekelle University, and Prof. Ramesh, Director of ICGEB, New Delhi. The signing marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at advancing collaborative research, innovation, academic exchange, and capacity building in the fields of genetic engineering and biotechnology.

The Faculty of Biotechnology at Mekelle University–Mekelle Institute of Technology (MU–MIT) will play a leading role in implementing the partnership by working closely with ICGEB on collaborative research, postgraduate education, laboratory training, and scientific capacity building.
