Mekelle University signed agreement with the Embassy of the United States of America, Public Affairs Section, in Ethiopia. Both signed MoU to jointly establish a Public Information and Activity Center("American Corner") during the period of 2023-2025. 

In the signing ceremony held in Mekelle University, Senate Hall, Dr. Fana Hagos, the president of Mekelle University and Ruth Anne Stevens-Klitz, Counselor for Public Affairs United States Embassy, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia expounded their commitment for the effective implementation of the "Corner".

Mekelle University Community led by Top Management Paid Visit to Emohoy Tsega Girmay Charity Center in Abbiy Adi. Mekelle University leadership led by the president Dr. Fana Hagos today visited the IDP center that cares over ten thausand IDPs and much many elderlies, orphans and people with serious health and financial problems in Abbiy Adi. During the visit, all the university leadership expressed their appriciation to the founder Emohoy Tsega Girmay; and promised to help this examplary community service with all possible mechanisms as part of their community  engagements.

Mekelle University Management Council held a meeting on matters of resumption of the university operation and related issues. The University Management Council convened today (July 13, 2023) to discuss the preparedness of the university to receive back students after two years of interruption. Ensuring staff and students' readiness for the resumption of the teaching and learning process was underscored during the meeting. The Council also delibrated on issues of unpaid staff salary; and stressed the gravity of economic and social impact of the failure to effect salary payment of the staff of the university. Lastly, the University Management Council calls upon all the relevant organs of the federal government to work towards providing the university with the budget required for the unpaid seventeen months of staff salary.
