VPSS held a consultative meeting in Axum Hotel, Mekelle.
VPSS, chaired by Dr. Tekeste Birhanu has taken place a consultative meeting on issues of motivating staff and enhancing productivity; ensuring transparency and staff participation in decision making; ensuring cost effective and efficient resource utilization, procurement, facility, budget and outsourced services; fair leadership; income generation and the related issues. The Deans, directors and the supporting staff made hot discussion on the issues.
In his final statement Dr. Tekeste Birhanu, VPSS, urged that the agenda has to go down till the department level.
Mekelle University held welcoming ceremony to his graduating students. Mekelle University and a deligation from MoE lead by Dr. Samuel Kifle, State Minister of Education, welcomèd the graduating students in the grand welcoming ceremony taken place in Arid, Mitku Hayle hall.
In the occasion, the president of the University Dr. Fana Hagos underscored that the university is not receiving its students in a context where all the necesary facilities and inputs are fulfilled; but with extraordinary commitment and ambition of seeing the University back to its' normal pace. In addition to, the president stated that the incoming students are lucky in the sense that they have reached to this day surviving the devastating war time. Dr. Fana added, " I am very much delighted today than that of the day we accompained back our students to their families due to the war". Finally, she calls the federal government and all stakes to support the university to restore.
Dr. Samuel Kifle on his part, extended his appreciation to the exceptional resilience of the management and the staff. Furthermore, he mentioned that the MoE will provide its support to the full restoration of the university.
Religious leaders have also given their elderly suggestion and blessings in the occasion.
