Japanese Ambassador, Ito Takako, pays a visit to Mekelle University.

Ito Takako , paid a visit to Mekelle University today, October 20/2023.
Dr.Abderkadir Kedir, MU Academic Vice President, welcomed the Ambassador and clarified the special area of collaborations and supports so far.
During her visit, Ito Takako met the management of the University to discuss the possible collaborations regarding the post war recovery. The Ambassador said that they will help Mekelle University to restore. She also explained that they have a plan to support Tigray Women's Association .
On the occassion, Prof. Mitiku Haile, Mekelle University ex-president, said "in this Post war recovery we need a lot of support in rehabilitating schools, agrucuture, health and other different sectors". Like wise, the professor said that the Japanese cultural center should be rehabilitated. Further more, he added that we need proposals and road maps to reengage with Japan Universities.
Dr.Tikabo Gebreselassie, MU Corporate Communications Director also said that due to the devastating war we lost a lot and Mekelle University staff are not paid the previous 17 months' salary, though, the University staff are committedly working.
