 The TAIK AI Summer Camp, hosted at Mekelle University, concluded with an exhilarating Hackathon competition and AI project demonstrations.
Organized by The Africa I Know (TAIK) in partnership with Mekelle University and Mekelle American Corner, the week-long camp provided high school students with an in-depth exploration of Artificial Intelligence and applications.
During the Hackathon, students presented innovative and creative AI projects aimed at solving real-world problems. The top three projects were recognized and awarded by TAIK, with Mr. Kaleab Alemayehu, a Features Editor at TAIK and a PhD Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania, presenting the awards. As the senior trainer, Mr. Kaleab commended the students for their outstanding performances and expressed his gratitude to Mekelle University and Mekelle American Corner for their unwavering professional and administrative support, which highly contributed to the camp's success.
Running from August 12 to 16, 2024, the TAIK AI Camp engaged 105 highly motivated high school students from various places in a transformative educational experience. The camp highlighted the future potential of AI and STEM fields, offering students a unique opportunity to dive into cutting-edge technologies.
TAIK, a non-profit organization, is committed to promoting African excellence and inspiring young Africas, particularly in STEM fields. The organization aims to reshape global perceptions of Africa by showcasing its diversity and innovation through educational content, community-driven initiatives, and international collaborations.
